Choosing your medical student elective 2010

On both nights
- SCOPE Local Exchange Officer
- Student speakers who have completed electives
- Representative from St Vincent’s Pacific Health Fund
- Representative from AVANT
It will provide a comprehensive overview of:
- The Year 5 rotations and rural opportunities
- Learning activities students will engage with during their clinical rotations
- How to organise your placements and preferences
- Why do an elective? What are the options?
- The Melbourne elective application/approval process
- Travelling to high risk destinations
- Melbourne Abroad
Presenters will include medical students who have experienced recent electives in regional Australia and overseas. Each student will make a presentation on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of my Medical Student Elective and what I wish someone had told me before I went!
The evening will conclude with your questions answered by the combined panel of presenters.

UMMSS 2011 Executive Elections and MSCV Chair Nominations
Formed in 1880, the University of Melbourne Medical Students’ Society is the peak representative body for medical students at the University of Melbourne. A position on the 2011 UMMSS Executive is your opportunity to play your part in the evolution of the Society at a very exciting time.
The following positions are up for nomination in this round of elections:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Education Officer
- Sponsorship Officers (2 students elected as a team)
- AMSA Representative
We are also taking nominations for the position of Chair of the Medical Student Council of Victoria.

Venue: Leonda by the Yarra
2 Wallen Road, Hawthorn
Cost: $78 – includes canapés, three course meal, beer wine and champagne
(All guests must have photo ID)
Come dressed in your 1920s best, for a glamorous night of dining, drinking and dancing (Charleston optional)
Buses will transfer you to the city where celebrations will continue at High Fidelity Bar, 461 Bourke St, Melbourne.

Its time to start organising your tables! MedBall tables each seat 11 people so groups of 5, 6 or 11 people only may request to be seated together. To arrange a table, one person from the group should email each guest’s name and the last 5 digits of each guest’s ticket number to medball@ummss.org.au before 5pm on Thursday August 26th.
Unfortunately, no late requests can be accepted. People who do not request a table group will be assigned to a table by the committee, based on year level (where possible).
